Cooperation deal between Pakistan, Belarus to be signed next month

Joint Ministerial Commission will meet in Belarus on Nov 16-17

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Belarus will sign an agreement on industrial, scientific and technical cooperation next month in an effort to step up collaboration between the two countries.

The agreement will be inked during the second meeting of the Joint Working Group, which will be held on the sidelines of Pak-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission huddle on November 16-17 in Grodno, Belarus.

Pakistan’s trade with Belarus has shown a fluctuating pattern. In 2015-16, bilateral trade was worth $28.8 million, of which Pakistan’s exports were valued at $0.60 million whereas its imports stood at $28.20 million.



In a meeting between Belarus Ambassador Andrei G Ermolovich and Federal Minister of Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi on Wednesday, the envoy talked about important business agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) which were expected to be signed between the two countries.

Jatoi expressed the view that the meeting would certainly provide an impetus to expanding bilateral relations in various sectors, especially economic, trade and commerce, investment and other areas of mutual interest.

“These agreements and MoUs will not only strengthen and enhance bilateral ties, but will also provide innumerable business and investment opportunities for business communities of both the countries,” he said.



In a bid to deepen industrial cooperation, the two countries signed an MoU on May 29, 2015.
