CDA Chairperson Imtiaz Inayat Elahi while approving the plan on Thursday said it was a necessary step to boost the economic activity in the capital as the market had become a central trade hub of the region.
The representatives of the traders offered full cooperation in developing the model market. They also informed the chairperson of their grievances, who asked the concerned authorities to coordinate with the traders’ community so the development work could be completed at the earliest.
Elahi said that the market was providing quality fruits and vegetables not only to the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad but also to other areas of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
He said one more water filtration plant will be installed, along with an additional vegetable and sugarcane auction platform.
