Aishwarya, Abhishek to essay Amitabh, Jaya in upcoming classic remake

The duo, who last co-starred in 'Raavan,' may star in the rebooted version of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan's 'Abhimaan'

We last saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan sharing the screen in Raavan. The A-list couple will now be working together again in a new Bollywood film, according to various Indian publications.

The real-life couple is reportedly coming together  in the remake of the 1973 classic film Abhimaan. The original film starred Abhishek's father and mother Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan as the two leads.

According to Deccan Chronicle, the remake of the hit film by Hrishikesh Mukherjee will be helmed by Tamil cinematographer-director Rajiv Menon.

The sizzling chemistry of Amitabh and Jaya was highly appreciated.  It would be interesting to see Abhishek and Aishwarya essaying the same roles in the remake.

Just like the original Abhimaan, Abhi-Ash will portray the role of a couple who are singers who get torn apart when the wife becomes more successful than the husband.

A source informed the publication, "For a very long time, Abhishek and Aishwarya have wanted to do another film together. Abhimaan seems like a perfect vehicle to showcase their shared affections."

Apart from this, the couple will also work together in a film called Gulab Jamun. Talking about the the movie, the Dhoom 3 star earlier said, "That is not Anurag Kashyap's film. It is by a new director and he (Anurag) will be producing it. We are still discussing it."

Junior Baqchchan and the former Miss World have also worked together in Guru (2007) by Mani Ratnam and Umrao Jaan (2006).

Aishwarya will next be seen in Atul Manjrekar's Fanney Khan which is supposedly a musical comedy. The Jazbaa star will be working with Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the film. Fanney Khan will hit screens next year.
