KARACHI:

In a very short span of his career, Bilal Ashraf has proved that he’s not just a charming, dimpled face – there’s definitely more to him. We witnessed his undeniable aura and immense talent in the theatrical trailer of the upcoming film Rangreza, where he has essayed the role of a rockstar.

Speaking exclusively with the Express Tribune, Bilal expressed, “I have put my heart and soul into the film. Even though it was really difficult playing a musician, I was convinced I could do it. I hope the audience like my attempt.”

He touched many hearts with his rockstar avatar, after the recent release of Rangreza’s trailer. He can also be seen playing the guitar skilfully and when asked whether he already knew how to play, he confirmed, “I learnt the guitar for a good five months and took a lot of training, especially for this movie. It’s been a lot of hard work.”

Talking about Rangreza’s storyline, Bilal shared, “The film is a musical journey, and it portrays all the emotions – drama, love and romance, all come together to form a unique story. There’s also a lot of anger portrayed through Gohar’s character, which you can see in the trailer.”

Shaan Shahid’s Arth 2 will also be releasing later this year, however, Bilal doesn’t consider it as competition. He stated, “I see local films releasing in a positive light – as this is good for Pakistani cinema.” He added, “I believe audiences should support Pakistani cinema and watch all Pakistani movies.”

Bilal started his film career with Operation 021 as a supporting actor and made his lead debut with last year’s Janaan. Although he wasn’t able to live up to the critics’ expectations, he won the hearts of many fans.

This year, however, he impressed critics with his strong performance in Pakistani war-epic film, Yalghaar. And we hope he can exceed expectations again with Rangreza, which is set to release December 21.
