Opener Javeria Khan hit an unbeaten half-century as Pakistan launched their Quadrangular Series campaign with a two-wicket win over Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Ground in Colombo.
Khan anchored the chase and though wickets fell at regular intervals Pakistan overhauled the 154-run target with 10 balls to spare. Khan was 63 not out off 118 deliveries and was supported well by captain Sana Mir (20) and Asmavia Iqbal (25). Wicket-keeper Batool Fatima scored 13 and was the only other player to score in double figures.
LE Kaushalya and HASD Siriwardene were the pick of the bowlers for the hosts claiming three wickets each.
Earlier, Pakistan displayed a fine bowling performance to dismiss Sri Lanka for a paltry 153, after the hosts chose to bat first.
Qanita Jalil, who took a wicket off the first ball of the match, finished with three for 20 while Sadia Yousuf (three for 29) and Masooma Junaid (two for 26) were the other main bowlers. Kaushalya (35) was the top scorer for Sri Lanka as none of the Sri Lankan players succeeded at the Colombo pitch.
