Even after two months past Eidul Azha, the prices of the vegetables have not been controlled by the Karachi city government, in spite of it issuing price lists to the vendors, regularly. The price hike is artificial and has been created through hoarding of stocks and controlled supply to the markets. This pretty much explains the fact why Pakistanis spent 70% of their income on food, and for those falling in lower income brackets affording two meals a day has become nearly impossible.
