Despite the adverse economic and security situations, which have forced multinationals such as Roche to exit the country, SAP intends to stay in Pakistan.
Talking to The Express Tribune, SAP Analytics and Sustainability Vice President for Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) Atul Patel said the company will be in Pakistan for the long haul and wants to expand its current base from 150 customers to 1,000 in the next three to five years. “We have a long-term view on Pakistan and would like to see this market grow from where it is now, to even greater heights,” said Patel.
He explained that analytics comprised 30 per cent of SAP’s revenues in the APJ region but the company was hoping to increase it to 50 per cent by 2015. He also said they would try to grow analytics in Pakistan from its current 10 per cent to around 30 per cent by 2012.
Patel is in Pakistan to launch the new version of the analytical software suite, Business Intelligence. According to Patel, his company controlled one-fifth of the organised sector.
Patel claimed that up to 70 companies are running SAP’s A1 suite, half of which are from the oil and gas sector.
