Rooftop theatre: Niece revives Reshma spirit

Lok Virsa earmarks series of concerts as part of its second generation of grandmasters

ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage, Lok Virsa, commemorated iconic theatre artist Bali Jatti by naming the renovated rooftop theatre in her honour.

The theatre was opened on Saturday evening after almost a decade. Bali Jatti was the first theatre artist in Pakistan who owned a travelling stage theatre.

To provide ammunition for the new theatre, the Lok Virsa also earmarked a series of concerts as part of its second generation of grandmasters.



Lok Virsa Executive Director Dr Fouzia Saeed said that the aim of the concert and of initiating the series was to pay tribute and honour grand musicians.

Furthermore, it hopes to provide continuity to talent to unearth the next generation of music maestros all the while engaging and educating the current generation about the country’s rich culture and traditions.
