Adopting proper handwashing techniques stressed

ISLAMABAD: Handwashing activity was carried out by Shifa Foundation with children of BASERA Trust in Islamabad. This activity was meant to promote handwashing and raise awareness of the important role that it plays in a child’s health.

“Washing hands before eating and after defecation drastically reduces the spread of diarrheal disease and has far reaching effects on the health and welfare of children and communities”, Mubashir Fida, Director Operations at Shifa Foundation commented.

Under this activity, Shifa team demonstrated the basic 7 steps of hand hygiene in front of more than 40 children who then practiced each step individually.

“I feel this power in which I just have to simply wet, lather and rinse - with soap and water and I will not have to get sick”, Hassam, a 9 years old participant, commented.

Workplace hazards: Health and safety day observed 

Shifa Foundation, committed to provide health, education, nutrition, and safe water facilities for deprived segments all over Pakistan regularly organizes such events in order to raise awareness regarding health and hygiene.

Global Handwashing Day falling on October 15 a global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.
