ISLAMABAD: Germany on Friday reiterated its support to Pakistan for initiatives which help reduce risks from natural disaster and continue bi and multi-lateral development projects to strengthen capacities for disaster risk reduction at all levels.

In a statement from the German Embassy on International Day for Disaster Reduction, it said that the German government supports initiatives which help reduce risks.

Within the scope of the German-Pakistani project “Geohazard Assessment in Northern Pakistan (GANP)” (2009-2015), a Risk Exposure Assessment (REA) was conducted for the Mansehra and Torghar districts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

The objective of this study, the statement said, was to quantify the endangered population and selected infrastructural elements at risk from landslide hazards, apart from drafting a set of preventive measures locals can take.
