Delay in entry of applications for Hajj 2011

The entry of thousands of applications for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage has not begun yet due to the lack of data operators even when Federal Minister for Labour and Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said they would begin from April 15.

It has been five days since banks opened their special counters to accept Hajj applications, yet not a single entry has been made.

According to sources, the ministry of religious affairs recruits more than fifty data entry operators every year. However, this year not single operator has been hired as yet and there could be a possible delay in sending out notifications to the accepted applicants.

Earlier Shah told media that a total number of 179,000 Pakistanis will perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year.
