Social media is truly an unforgiving medium.

Celebrities lives have always been public property, so much so that the actors have been shamed and trolled for almost every other post or picture.

But every once in a while, the superstars hit back haters with powerful responses. Here are seven celebrities who slammed the haters in brilliant posts:

Hareem Farooq, who is all set to star in Azfar Jafri helmed Parchi, opened up about how people would criticise her body continually - but she didn't take it lightly, and responded back to haters in a brilliant post.

“For the longest time I had people telling me I was too big or too fat to be in the media and especially in front of the camera,” she posted on her Instagram account.

Sonam Kapoor trolled for her 'Nepotism' tweet

"I now feel blessed to have worked with some amazing people and receiving immense love from my fans, who judge me more on my talent than my ‘body’."

Like many other female artists in the entertainment industry, Armeena Khan too has been a subject of utter hate and online abuse. But the Janaan actor has had enough and has shut down haters in one epic post!

"Why is it that Pakistani females wish to attack Pakistani actresses in such a vicious manner. What have we done to you except entertain and create an industry that will benefit the economy, culture and arts of Pakistan. How is that a crime?” she wrote.

Soha Ali Khan trolled for flaunting her baby bump

I understand that I signed up for criticism when I became an actress but nowhere did I sign up for abuse. You are welcome to critique our work in a polite manner but I won’t allow you to question my religion, my morals OR my freedom to choose,” she added.

3. When Hamza Ali Abbasi stood up for Sarfaraz Ahmed

Our obsession with English language knows no bound. To us, it's not just a language, it's basically a life style which ultimately gives us a right to judge others.

It wasn't very long ago after an amazing win against Sri Lanka, our team captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed stumbled as he spoke to the media. And people trolled the captain. It was Hamza Ali Abbasi who stood up for Sarfaraz and called out the haters.

After Aishwarya, internet trolls Kareena Kapoor Khan for an unusual lipcolour

"It is not the language that we should criticise. As far as we wish to give constructive criticism, we should analyse their game; their English speaking skills should be irrelevant. The people who are making fun should free themselves from their mental slavery to colonialism," the Mann Mayal star had said.

4. When Sarwat Gillani's fertility wasn't a public issue

Sarwat Gillani and Fahad Mirza embraced parenthood for the second time on June 1, as they welcomed their second baby. However, it seems like the Dil-e-Muztar star was then questioned about planning her family and that didn’t go down too well with her.

Taking to Facebook, Sarwat wrote, “Why is it anyone’s business to comment on how many children should I have?”

She went on to say, “Why is it anyone’s concern how late or soon should I have them and funnily enough why is it always men who have such lame concerns? My fertility is certainly not your problem nor an excuse to have a conversation or make a joke.”

Pakistani drama actor Yasra Rizvi has become the recipient of social media hate amid her marriage to a rising producer who actually was much younger than her.

“I want to thank the ones who criticised me and those who supported me, since it (my marriage) started a debate on the age gap between a couple and where the issue stands socially and religiously,” the actor said in a Facebook video.

Talking about why she had demanded her husband to offer Fajr prayers regularly as mehr Yasra said, “People ridiculed me thinking I wanted to be different, thinking that people do dumb things to be different. Well, I am definitely different.”

“I thoroughly researched the religious aspect. The namaz is still for Allah. I am just more secure with someone who offers it and inspires me too,” she added. Actor went on to say that the criticism on her mehr and her marriage has left her dumbfounded.

Many came forward to support Mahira, and Osman did so too in the perfect manner possible as he called out the double standards in an epic recreational picture.

"SHOCKING: Behaya male actor cigarette-noshi kartay huay pakray gaye - sharmnaak manazir'.. said NO ONE EVER," he wrote on Twitter.

Annie Khalid of Mahiya fame shared a personal post about her second marriage and divorce and it went viral – for all the right reasons.

Societal norms enable women to be belittled if she chooses to break free of an abusive or toxic marriage. Annie, in her emotional yet powerful posts scribes that she is indeed ‘sick’ of the abuse hurled at her for getting married twice.

Ashley Graham 'loves the skin she's in' as she claps back at body shamers

“What atrocious Pakistani culture we have where divorcee women are scandalised and stigmatised in our society. They become ‘black sheep’ or ‘damaged goods’," wrote the singer.

The singer also addressed how women are constantly blamed for the failure of marriage and how they don’t try hard enough to sustain the relationship. Moreover, the women who are supposed to be supportive to each other during testing times often lack empathy which is utterly hurtful for those going through such a tough ordeal.
