PESHAWAR: Foreign footballers from Malaysia, Indonesia and Afghanistan were accorded a warm welcome in Peshawar on Thursday.

The guests were here for Fata Football Super League-2017 that will kick off at Qayyum Sports Complex from Friday afternoon, Organising Committee Secretary Shahid Shinwari told a press briefing.

Players from Malaysia, Indonesia and Afghanistan and former national team skippers Najeebullah Najmi and Gohar Zaman were present. He said FFSL-2017 matches will also be held in Kurram, Orakzai and Bajaur agencies.

Regarding the matches, the organiser said 12 teams will be taking part in the league. The winners would get Rs0.5 million while the runner-up Rs0.3 million. “Best player, top scorer and best goal-keeper would bag Rs25,000 each,” he said.

The teams participating in the league include Khyber Eagles, Bajaur Stars, Pakir Epi South Waziristan Agency, Waziristan Panther, Khyber Green Zalmi, Shanwari FC, Malik Saad Falcons, Al Hajj Group, FAW United, Young Jamrud United, Dara Adam Khail Eagle and Gazi Ajab Khan of Dara Adam Khail and Khurram Shaheen of known Dr Arif.
