Kulsoom Nawaz undergoes chemo treatment

The former first lady is battling lymphoma and has undergone three surgeries since August

Kulsoom Nawaz, the winning contestant from NA-120 Lahore and wife of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, began her first round of chemotherapy on Tuesday in London.

In a tweet, Maryam Nawaz shared a picture of her mother with her father Nawaz sitting beside her.

“Ami being prepared for her first chemotherapy session,” Maryam wrote.



The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader thanked her followers and party supporters for their prayers saying they “mean a lot to us”.

Minutes later Maryam posted another picture of Nawaz and Kulsoom with the caption: “in sickness and in health…. A solemn vow.”



The former first lady was readmitted to the hospital on September  27 after her "condition worsened".

Kulsoom has been battling lymphoma- a form of cancer. She has undergone three surgeries since August and remains in London to continue her treatment.
