Afghan police recovered an Indian engineer in a rescue operation on Saturday in Wardak province, TOLO news reported.

Local police officials confirmed the operation, adding that it was their fourth attempt to rescue the hostage.

The engineer had been abducted two months ago while he was working for an electricity construction company for the Turkemenistan power-line project in Wardak province.

Kidnapping is not rare in the war-torn country. In June, the Afghan Taliban released a video  showing an American and an Australian hostage asking their governments to help negotiate a prisoner exchange with their captors to secure their release.
