Reshuffle in bureaucracy: Nine secretaries transferred, posted in Sindh

In the last 10 months, around three secretaries have been transferred in the education department

KARACHI: In another reshuffle, the Sindh government transferred and posted on Friday nine secretaries. According to a notification issued by the services, general administration and coordination department, education secretary Abdul Aziz Uqaili has been transferred while Dr Iqbal Durrani has replaced him.

Uqaili, who was also holding charge of schools education human resources and training director-general, has been made a member of the Reform Wing and Special Cell, Board of Revenue Sindh.

In the last 10 months, around three secretaries have been transferred in the education department. Earlier, Fazlullah Pechuho, who served in the education department from 2013 to 2016, was transferred. He was replaced by Jamal Mustafa Syed, who worked for hardly two to three months. Later, Uqaili was appointed as secretary of the education department.

Six senior police officers transferred, posted

However, unhappy with Uqaili's performance, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah ordered his transfer. "The Sindh education department has announced an education emergency in the province and in a meeting last week, the chief minister expressed his dismay over the performance of the department, asking the chief secretary to bring in a new secretary," an official in the education department told The Express Tribune.

Meanwhile, Shamsuddin Soomro, an officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) who was waiting to be posted, has been posted as the mines and mineral development secretary, replacing Parvez Ahmed Sehar.

Committee formed for transfer, posting of senior police officials

The notification read that Shabir Ahmed, also a PAS officer, has been made information, science and technology secretary, relieving Rahim Bux Shaikh. Sohail Akbar Shah, a senior bureaucrat, has been appointed livestock and fisheries secretary, replacing Mukhtar Hussain Soomro. Meanwhile, Mukhtar has been appointed cooperative department secretary wherefrom Abdul Rashid Solangi has been transferred.
