HYDERABAD: An oil tanker carrying 50,000 litres of spirit fuel overturned on the National Highway near Qazi Ahmed taluka of Benazirabad district on Friday.

According to Benazirabad police, the truck was transporting fuel from Faisalabad to Karachi. Although spill from the tanker continued police personnel immediately reached the place and secured the site, denying entrance to the people who had gathered after the incident, sources told The Express Tribune.

Meanwhile, a fire tender rushed to the place while a crane was also called to lift the vehicle away from the highway.

Similarly, in a separate accident a driver and cleaner of an oil tanker were struck by another truck while replacing a punctured tyre of their vehicle on the National Highway near Hala, in Matiari district. The driver, Sadaqat Ali, died on the spot while the cleaner, Irfan, was shifted to the taluka hospital.
