Junaid, Shinwari shine in HBL's innings victory

Pacemen claimed eight wickets between themselves

KARACHI: A superb spell of fast bowling by Junaid Khan and Usman Shinwari helped HBL beat Rawalpindi by an innings and 65 runs on the second day of their second round Pool B fixture of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at Pindi Stadium on Wednesday.

HBL resumed their first innings on 170-3 and posted a total of 297-8 before declaring their innings as Imran Farhat scored 94 runs off 164 balls and Ramiz Aziz added 63.

Rawalpindi, in their second innings, could muster just 130 runs as Shinwari took five wickets for 48 and Junaid claimed three scalps for 50 to win the game for HBL.

In another match, Umar Sadique scored 115 runs off 188 balls to help UBL reach 239-3 against Lahore Whites. At the end of play, Saad Ali was batting on 74, with UBL still trailing by 50 runs.

Meanwhile in the match between KRL and FATA, the former resumed their batting on 29-2 and were restricted to 238 as Hafeezur Rehman and Asif Afridi took three wickets apiece for 54 and 59 runs respectively.

At the end of play, FATA were batting in their second innings on 52-1, enjoying a lead of 51 runs.

At NBP stadium in Karachi, PTV resumed their first innings on 83-5 against Karachi Whites and were restricted to 195 as Adeel Malik took three wickets for 49 while Anwar Ali took two for 44.

At the end of second day, Karachi (W) were batting in their second innings on 126-4, with a lead of 112 runs under their belt.

In Pool A matches, Faisalabad resumed their first innings on 68-5 before Zulfiqar Babar ended their innings at 170 as he took seven wickets for just 41 runs.

At the end of play, WAPDA were batting in their second innings on 140-5 with a lead of 112 runs.
