ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) (N-5 North Zone) has launched a drive to install fire extinguishers and first aid boxes in public service vehicles (PSV) for the safety of passengers and road users. Motorway Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abbas Ahsan said that the drive hopes to ensure timely and prompt response by drivers in case a fire in their vehicles. The drive was started after accidents involving fires in vehicles after accidents leading to deaths. The DIG said that this drive and would also inculcate a sense of safety amongst the passengers and road users travelling on national highways, a statement read. The DIG added that strict action would be taken against unauthorised and illegal number plates on vehicles.
