While the United States urges the world to "do more" in fight against terrorism, it is itself responsible for orchestrating chaos around the globe, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has said.

"[Foreign Minister] Khawaja Asif courageously pointed out flaws of the American policymakers on their own soil," he tweeted on Friday. "US policies have a major role in fanning 'Islamic extremism' [in the region]."

On Wednesday, during a sitting held in conjunction with the 72nd UN General Assembly session in New York on Wednesday, Asif had asked the international community, the US in particular, to stop blaming Pakistan for extremism.

He reminded the country that the Haqqani network and other alleged militant outfits were considered the 'darlings' of the White House up until a few decades ago.

With Khawaja Asif as foreign minister, who needs enemies: Imran Khan

"It is a grave injustice not to recognise the huge sacrifices of the Pakistani nation and the institutions of national security [in the fight against terror]," he asserted.

Rafique also used the opportunity to criticise rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, asking the party's chief Imran Khan to undergo some introspection as to admit one's own faults. He went on to add that links between Khan and the "Jewish lobby" were no secret.

On the contrary, he added, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is Pakistan's ideological line of defence.
