He was presiding over a meeting of heads of medical universities and superintendents at Civil Secretariat on Monday. The minister said that special duties should be assigned to senior doctors, including head of the department for the 9th and 10th Muharram and operation theatres, medical equipment, stock of medicines and blood bags of all groups be made available at the hospitals.
Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah said that medical colleges and teaching hospitals should chalk out management plan to deal with any untoward incident. The participants were informed that duty roasters of doctors, surgeons, senior registrars and head of the department had been finalised. Sufficient stock of medicines and blood bags was made available in the hospitals and donors list had been prepared in case of any need.
Govt to impose Section 144 during Muharram
Shah directed the administration of medical education institutions and hospitals to share duty roasters of health providers with the department. He said that close coordination was essential between hospitals administration and officials of Rescue 1122 for providing ambulance services to the patients during Muharram processions especially on Youm-e-Ashura.
