9 Bollywood celebs who publicly insulted their exes

Turns out, they're not immune to feelings of rage either

Entertainment Desk September 25, 2017

When it comes to love, Bollywood celebrities are not far behind the characters they portray on-screen. The industry insiders are known for their on and off romances which, at times, have gone on to break entire marriages.

But it all depends on how the celebs handle the attention revolving around their love lives. Some former couples parted amicably while others have displayed personal feuds in public for the world to feast their eyes on. As compiled from Cosmopolitan, here are eight times a Bollywood celeb publicly insulted their ex.

Jacqueline Fernandez and Sajid Khan

Jacqueline and Sajid were set to tie the knot before the A Gentleman star decided to call it quits because of Sajid’s over possessive nature. After an unpleasant breakup, it was reported that the director had everything but nice things to say about the beauty.

"While we broke up in May 2013, in reality, right from December 2012 it started becoming sour. When you don't have a woman in your life, you don't have someone constantly nagging you, so you end up working better and are more focused. I went for a holiday with her for five days in the middle of making Himmatwala and felt so bad when the film didn't do well. For Humshakals, I did not take a single holiday."

Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia

What was supposedly a fairy tale romance to begin with became nothing but a disaster in the end. The Veer Zara star dated India’s top businessman Ness Wadia and went on to buy an IPL with him. Nonetheless, the relationship resulted in Preity filing molestation and abuse complaints against Ness in June 2014.

"He intimidated me by saying he could make me disappear as I was a nobody; only an actress and he's a powerful person. This incident in Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium has left me shattered and in fear for my life," she said.

In the FIR, Priety stated, "He came up to me at my seat and started screaming and abusing me in front of everyone. He used foul language, which was demeaning to my reputation and character."

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh

After the couple’s divorce, Said Ali Khan didn’t take long to disclose all the reasons it didn’t work out between him and Amrita Singh.

In an interview in 2005, the Race star shared, "It isn't nice to be constantly reminded of how worthless you are and to have taunts, jeers, and abuses thrown at your mother and sister all the time. I've gone through all of it."

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor

These two seemed to be head over heels for one another but as Kareena got closer to Saif Ali Khan during Tashan, the duo broke up. They met nine years later, on the set for Udta Punjab where they remained cordial. The pair did not share any screen time for the movie but promoted the film together amongst other co-actors.

On many occasions post break up, Shahid was quoted saying, "If my director wants me to work with a cow, or a buffalo, as an actor—I'm ready to do it."

He added, "I blame it on my being a good boyfriend. I was in a four-and-a-half year old relationship and very committed. Now, I have learnt better. And I shall not be the most wonderful boyfriend."

"My most successful film Jab We Met came when Kareena and I had broken up. I can only see it from a practical point of view. And I feel that some choices didn't work for me."

Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty was madly in love with Akshay Kumar and all set to marry the star. But Akshay had different plans. He left Shilpa heartbroken after he dumped her for Twinkle Khanna, who he went on to marry.

"Akshay Kumar used me and conveniently dropped me after he found someone else. The only person I was upset with was him. But I'm sure he'll get it all back. It's not easy to forget the past so soon, but I'm glad I've had the strength to move on," Shilpa once said. "Today, he's a forgotten chapter as far as I'm concerned. I will never work with him again. Professionally, things have never looked better."

Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan

Salman and Aishwarya’s love blossomed during their time together in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. It was very apparent that Salman was smitten by the Taal star and wanted to marry the beauty as soon as he could.

However, Aishwarya was definitely not on the same page as she had finally begun gaining recognition within the film industry. The former Miss World was not ready to settle down and her parents were also against it. Furthermore, Salman's behaviour definitely did not help the situation. The Devdas star publicly disclosed,

"After we broke up, he would call me and talk rubbish. He also suspected me of having affairs with my co-stars. I was linked up with everyone, from Abhishek Bachchan to Shahrukh Khan. There were times when Salman got physical with me, luckily without leaving any marks. And I would go to work as if nothing had happened."

Ash added, "I stood by him enduring his alcoholic misbehaviour in its worst phases and in turn, I was at the receiving end of his abuse (verbal, physical and emotional), infidelity and indignity. That is why like any other self-respecting woman, I ended my relationship with him."

Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai

Soon after her break-up with Salman, Aishwarya moved on to Kyun! Ho Gaya Na… co-actor Vivek Oberoi. Although neither of them publicly admitted to their relationship, it was quite obvious that Vivek was head over heels for the belle too.

Vivek was the sweetest boyfriend ever until he took advantage of the fame and held an elaborate press conference back in 2003, discussing how Salman called him 31 times, threatening to kill him. Aishwarya was definitely not impressed and she publicly labelled him as "immature." Subsequently, his relationship with Aishwarya died, along with his career.

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor

Deepika Padukone seemed to be madly in love with her Tamasha co-star Ranbir Kapoor, and their chemistry was as apparent off-screen as it was on-screen. The Piku actor even got her lover’s initials inked on herself. However, Ranbir’s close proximity with his Raajneeti co-actor Katrina Kaif put a spanner in the works.

In her session at Koffee With Karan alongside Sonam Kapoor, Deepika made no effort to hide her angst and publicly outed Ranbir's allegedly frivolous behaviour. Not only did she say it on national TV that "Ranbir should endorse condoms" (hinting at his adultery), she openly proclaimed that "he needs to work on his boyfriend skills."

Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan

After keeping her affair with Hrithik a secret for a long time, Kangana opened up about him being her ex-boyfriend. She shared,"Yes, many lame rumours are doing rounds, anyone can tell where these rumours are coming from. I don't know why exes do silly things to get your attention. For me, that chapter is over and I don't dig graves."

Obviously, Hrithik Roshan had to respond to her allegations without any name-calling and tweeted,

In an explosive interview with Rajeev Masand and on the show Aap Ki Adaalat, Kangana was almost reduced to tears while she spoke about the allegations made by Hrithik Roshan and his dad Rakesh Roshan to tarnish her image.
