Kashmir Issue

Letter September 24, 2017
Kashmiris should be allowed to exercise their right of self-determination as per the UN resolutions

LAHORE: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi must be applauded for raising the Kashmir issue at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly. Kashmir is the issue of the day. India instead of realising its mistake is continuing its atrocities and brutalities on innocent Muslims. The recent shelling at the Working Boundary killing innocent civilians, including women and children, is unforgivable and calls for legal measures by human rights and peacekeeping bodies of the world.

It is strange that the world is silent over India’s illegal occupation and violence in Kashmir. It is high time the UN and other international bodies took notice of these atrocities and pressured India to stop these barbaric acts in Kashmir. Kashmiris should be allowed to exercise their right of self-determination as per the UN resolutions.
