KARACHI: Multan Sultans, the sixth franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), on Friday unveiled their logo and kit, announcing legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram and Australia legend Tom Moody as the first two big names of their management staff.

Akram, formerly of Islamabad United, was brought in by the franchise as the Director of Cricket Operations, and he promised to help take the team to new heights.

“I am very excited to be a part of Multan Sultans,” said Akram. “I look forward to contributing in my complete capacity to produce players capable of competing and excelling.”

Akram, who has been an integral part of various T20 franchises around the world, added that third season will be even more exciting with the introduction of the sixth team.

“The third season of PSL will be even more enthralling as it will feature Multan Sultans as the sixth team,” he said. “It will be a treat for the crowd which will now get to see more home games after the successful return of international cricket to Pakistan.”

‘Moody ideal man for head coach job’

The franchise announced their head coach on the occasion too: former Australia great Tom Moody.

Regarding Moody’s appointment, the Director of Multan Sultans, Asher Schon said: “I believe in Tom we have found the ideal man for this role. He possesses years of coaching experience with various franchises which enables him to play a crucial role in nurturing young talent and player development.”

Schon added that being welcomed into the PSL family is great.

“It is great to see everyone welcoming Multan Sultans,” he said. “The love and enthusiasm is surreal and makes us feel very proud on making the right choice of the team. Our logo symbolizes power and visually positions our determination to lead the way, be it on-field or off-field.”
