Security threat: DSP Arbab Shafiullah’s house attacked

'DSP had no enmity with anyone in area, case associated with militancy or extortion,' claimed police

PESHAWAR: Unidentified men attacked the residence of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Arbab Shafiullah with a hand grenade on Thursday night.

A police official told The Express Tribune that there was no casualty in the attack but the house was damaged and the blast resulted in widespread panic in the area.

“DSP Shafiullah is a local resident and is currently deployed in traffic. He had no enmity with anyone in the area and the case is said to be associated with militancy or extortion,” claimed the official.

The official said that the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) had been called to inspect the site of the attack and police had started investigation into the case.

Two nights earlier a show room of a Japanese car manufacturer had been attacked in a similar fashion on Ring Road in the jurisdiction area of Banamari police station.

Police further added that extortionists were involved in the attack.
