Disgruntled former minister

Letter September 22, 2017
The new premier and his cabinet is grappling with the same issues

QUETTA: The former interior minister, Chaudhry Nisar, seems to have taken it upon himself to lambast a government he himself has been a part of for the past four years. During a National Assembly session, he criticised the newly-elected prime minister and the Foreign Office for failing to deliver Pakistan’s strong positional stance in the region and other similar developments.

However, what is more surprising was the minister’s silence for the past four years, particularly when the Foreign Office was being run without a permanent foreign minister, and the country was in no different situation over matters of key national importance. The new premier and his cabinet is grappling with the same issues as the previous one, although added to it is the harsh criticism of one of its former ministers who is now critical of his own party’s policies.
