New serial killer drama Rellik was all set to air its next episode on BBC before a real life corpse was found on its set. Filming came to a standstill after the body was found at Cambridge Heath Park in east London.

Actor Paterson Joseph, who plays the role of a psychiatrist on the six-episode drama, told The Mirror"The crew arrived to film their own dead body and the police told them they weren't able to, because they'd found a real dead body. It was bizarre, fact being stranger than fiction."

He continued, "There were a lot of strange coincidences. Richard [Dormer] who plays our main character, getting impetigo and his face being covered in blotches and blemishes."

Dormer's character was scarred by an acid attack during the investigation. "He got the same reaction as his actual character, who's been scarred in an acid attack. We found that odd," he added.

"Then there were the acid attacks within England which happened at the same time as we were filming ours. It's a strange show when it brings out these coincidences."

Rellik (which is 'killer' spelled backwards) was created and written by the team behind The Missing. Joseph, who was in Casualty and Peep Show shared, “It’s fast paced, dark and quite bloody.

He added, “It’s a mind-bender it really does twist your thinking. Rellik is dark but with humour. It’s graveyard humour but there’s a light tone in there.”

Rellik premiered on BBC One on September 11.
