Mangal Bagh flees to Afghanistan: Ansarul Islam

Ansarul Islam spokesperson claims Mangal Bagh has fled to Afghanistan with aid of notorious drug dealer Amin Shinwar.

Express April 17, 2011

Banned organisation Ansarul Islam on Sunday claimed that the leader of their rival group Lashkar-e-Islam, Mangal Bagh, has fled to Afghanistan.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Ansarul Islam spokesperson Qari Mehboob said that Mangal Bagh has fled the country with the aid of Amin Shah Shinwar.

Shinwar is a notorious drug leader and the chief financer of banned organisation Lashkar-e-Islam.

Mehboob also demanded that the government arrest Bagh and put him to trial in accordance with the law.

The Ansarul Islam had recently shook hands with another militant group from the Zakhakhel tribe, in efforts to defeat Bagh.

In turn Bagh had sought the help of the Tehrik-i-Taliban to help him in the tribal clashes.

Correction: April 18, 2011

An earlier version of this article incorrectly labelled the Zakhakhel tribe as militants. The error has been corrected to reflect that the reference was to militants belonging to the Zakhakhel tribe.
