During the press tour for his new movie Stronger, the actor opened up to People about wanting to be a father. "I want to continue becoming more of an adult than I already am - hopefully with a family of my own," he shared.
He further expressed that his bond with his two nieces excites him and creates the willingness to be a father. “My sister has raised two beautiful daughters. They are the most amazing girls,” he says. “It’s fun to send them home with a lot of candy,” he stated.
The Southpaw star is currently single (here’s your cue ladies!). After past conspicuous relationships with Reese Witherspoon and Taylor Swift, Gyllenhaal said he didn’t let rumours about his love life get to him. “I’ve learned to have a real sense of humour about things. There will always be opinions. I think I’ve made my peace with that,” he said.
Gyllenhaal has been very open about his feeling towards becoming a father, even in the past. During his press tour for Southpaw, in 2015, he told multiple outlets that he wanted to have children, referencing the fact that he played a father in the movie. “I would love for it not to be fictional,” he told People.
The Love & Other Drugs star also expressed his excitement to the Inquirer, explaining, “Nothing gets me more excited than thinking about being able to have a family and to be a father and husband. There is no other purpose I can see in the world than that.”
Moreover, he passionately told Entertainment Tonight, “I am not a father yet, but it is definitely a dream of mine, should I be lucky to have that to happen.”
The Hollywood A-lister is all set to start a family, and we hope he finds what he is looking for.
