Federal Area crowned Disabled T20 champions

Side defeats KPK counterparts in final

KARACHI: Federal Area defeated defending champions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Disabled cricket team by eight wickets to win the seventh NBP Disabled T-20 Pentangular Cup at Karachi's Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) Ground on Wednesday.

After their captain Nihaar Alam won the toss and decided to bat first, KPK posted a total of 141 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs as the skipper scored 38 in 35 balls, whereas Altaf Ahmed contributed a 26-ball 29 and Hayat Khan chipped in with 26 off 23 balls.

Federal’s left-arm medium pacer Muhammad Haris grabbed three wickets for 32 runs, while Muhammad Nizam claimed two scalps for 10 runs.

In reply, Federal Area reached their target with eight wickets and 14 deliveries to spare as Jahanzaib Tiwana top scored with an unbeaten 42 off 27 balls laced with four boundaries, while Muhammad Hamza contributed 33 runs off 19 balls with the help of three fours.

Arif Richard also scored 31 off 33 balls and Ahsan Khalil added 30 off 27 balls to the winning cause.

At the prize distribution ceremony, chief guest Azeem Hafeez handed a cash prize of Rs100,000 and the winning trophy to Tiwana, while the runners-up pocketed Rs50,000.
