
Over the last day, the province witnessed 769 road traffic accidents which were reported in the Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) from all 37 districts.

The injured were shifted to different hospitals of districts and tehsils. However, around 218 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after receiving first aid by Emergency Medical Teams.

According to data, 343 drivers, 16 underage drivers, 110 pedestrians and 459 passengers were among the victims. The statistics showed that 153 RTAs were reported in Lahore Control Room and they affected 154 people, placing the provincial capital on top of the accidents list.
Traffic accidents show no sign of slowing down
The details further showed that a total of 912 victims were affected by road traffic crashes province-wide including 664 men and 248 women. The age group of the victims indicated that 138 were under 18 years of age, 519 were between 18 and 40 years and the other 255 victims were reported to be above 40.
The figures pointed out that 656 motorbikes, 108 auto rickshaws, 73 motorcars, 41 vans, eight passenger buses, 27 trucks and 89 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the aforesaid accidents.
