Pakistan, Arab League express concern over situation in Palestine, held Kashmir

Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif meets Secretary General Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit in New York

Pakistan and Arab League have expressed grave concern on the ongoing situation in Palestine and occupied Kashmir, particularly the targeting of innocent civilians by occupying forces.

The concern was expressed at a meeting between Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif and Secretary General Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit in New York on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly, Radio Pakistan reported.

Gheit appreciated Pakistan's role in promoting regional peace especially among the Muslim states.


Abbasi to convey Pakistan's concerns over Afghan policy

The secretary general acknowledged the role Pakistan can play in addressing the challenges confronted by the Muslim world.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi reached New York to attend the 72nd annual session of the UN General Assembly, which is attended by a large number of heads of states and governments.

The general debate opens today, with a focus on the theme, ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.
