MPs hold interactive session with COAS

ISLAMABAD: A delegation comprising members of defence committees of the Senate and National Assembly visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The delegation, headed by Senator Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qayyum, had an interactive session with army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, said the ISPR.

The visiting parliamentarians were given a detailed briefing on the evolving security environment, including the situation on the borders and Pakistan Army’s efforts for peace and security.

The session concluded with the resolve to continue the struggle against the menace of violent extremism through a synergetic, whole-of-the-nation approach based on the principle of “collective potential and shared responsibility”, according to the military’s media wing.

The delegation members also laid a wreath at the Shuhada Monument at the GHQ.
