Narcos fans are delighted as the show’s third season has been released on Netflix. The crew were off to Mexico to explore a location for the fourth season which will move the action from Colombia to Mexico. However, tragedy struck when one of the members was shot dead.

Location manager Carlos Munoz Portal was found dead in a bullet-riddled vehicle in rural Mexico last week, reported El Pais. Munoz has previously sought locations for other productions within Mexico such as Man On Fire, Apocaltypo and Spectre.

The car was located among cacti on a remote dirt road in Temascalapa, Mexico and numerous gunshot wounds were found on Munoz's body. The region is located on the borders of Hidalgo, known for its high homicide rate. About 182 cases were reported last year.

Munoz’s friend shared that he had been scouting the rural area with a camera. The presence of an unfamiliar person within such an area may have led to his death. "Maybe they thought he was collecting information and they started tracking him in a car."

Netflix also released a short statement on the incident, "We are aware of the passing of Carlos Munoz Portal, a well-respected scout, and send our condolences to his family. The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate."

The new season of the drug drama epic will revolve around Juarez cartel. However, following Munoz’s death, it is unclear whether the makers will go ahead with Mexican locations.
