KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) said that it was committed to eradicating power outage, while condemning the attack against its teams in Nazimabad block 1 during a hook (kunda) removal exercise, a spokesman of the power utility firm said in a statement on Saturday. He stated that during removal, KE teams faced resistance from the ‘kunda mafia’, which assaulted the teams as well. The employees were safely extracted with the support of law enforcement agencies, he added. “It is despicable and unfortunate that members of our hardworking team were assaulted,” the spokesperson deplored. “Usage of hook connections is a criminal offence since it is a safety hazard as well as a major cause of frequent PMT tripping,” he reiterated.
