In a rush to deliver

It is after all difficult to erase the Panamagate affair and other corruption scandals from the public’s mind

FAISALABAD: A recently published report highlighted the development impasse that the current prime minister finds himself beset with. The few developmental projects initiated by the current government were scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on 14th August, however for reasons best known to the government, the said projects could not be completed and hence inaugurated on time. Further, due to the delay in the completion period of other projects and the New Islamabad International Airport the cost has increased twice than the initially estimated figures. It is important to note that many of the projects included in the PM’s 22-month developmental plan are of motorways and link roads. Also sources close to the ruling party leadership have regarded inaugural dates as decided upon hastily without giving due consideration to the quality standards that need to be maintained in a timely manner as the PML-N attempts to make up for the negative impact and its dwindling popularity graph following PM Nawaz’s disqualification.

Rationally, contrary to the development work initiated by the PML-N one wonders whether the ruling party will be able to deliver before the upcoming general elections. It is after all difficult to erase the Panamagate affair and other corruption scandals from the public’s mind.
