ISLAMABAD: Babar Awan, who resigned as the law minister to plead presidential reference on the Zulifikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) case in the Supreme Court, on Friday briefed President Zardari on the case’s progress. Zardari had sent a reference to the Supreme Court under Article 186 of the constitution to revisit the case. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) sees the 1979 verdict of the court as flawed, and Bhutto’s execution as judicial murder. The government’s move of sending reference is getting a mixed reaction from different quarters, with some believing that it was a clever move on part of Zardari to garner political mileage.
