According to police officials, the victims had come from rural Sindh and were on their way to Kathore area when their Suzuki van collided with a speedy trailer on Malir Link Road within the limits of Steel Town police station.
The children who lost their lives in the accident were identified as 12-year-old Noman and his five-year-old brother Moeed. Twenty-three-year-old Saima, daughter of Nisar Ahmed, and driver Abdul Malik, 50, also lost their lives in the incident while the other two victims have yet to be identified.

Steel Town SHO Mujtaba Bajwa said the victims hailed from different parts of rural Sindh, who had reached Karachi on Tuesday and were on their way to Kathore on a rented Suzuki when the accident took place. The SHO added that according to preliminary investigation, the accident took place when the Suzuki driver attempted to save his vehicle from going into a pothole when the vehicle collided with the trailer coming from the opposite side.
Heavy machinery was called at the accident site to retrieve the bodies by cutting parts of the vehicle. The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities and later to the Edhi morgue from where four of them were taken by the families while the remaining two bodies have yet to be identified.
The SHO said that the injured are being treated at the hospital and are not in condition to have their statements recorded. A case has been registered while further investigations are under way.
