AVCC officials kill two alleged kidnappers, Rangers apprehend six suspects

Three accused involved in kidnapping managed to escape, say police

KARACHI: Two suspected kidnappers were killed on Tuesday during an alleged exchange of fire with the police in the outskirts of the metropolis. Meanwhile, the paramilitary force claimed on Tuesday to have apprehended six suspects during ongoing targeted raids and operations in different parts of metropolis.
According to police, two kidnapers were killed during an alleged exchange of fire between the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) police and kidnappers in an area near Bin Qasim Town. Inspector Ayub Pathan of the AVCC conducted the raid on a tip-off from an arrested suspect, Abdul Malik alias Haji, with the aim to recover the vehicle of an abductee and arrest the absconders.

When the kidnappers retaliated, the AVCC police returned fire and, as a result, an accomplice of the kidnappers, who was later identified as Haider Ali alias Rajo alias Bablo, was killed on the spot. Another accomplice, Abdul Malik, was injured and later succumbed to his injuries while on his way to the hospital.
Police said that Haider had been involved in the killing of a police constable in 2015. Constable Adil Nawaz embraced martyrdom while another constable Sadaqat Hussain was injured during an encounter with him. An FIR of the incident was registered later at the Site Area police station.

Meanwhile, taking advantage of the darkness, three other suspects escaped the scene. The vehicle of the abductee along with TT pistols and rounds were recovered from the spot. Cases were registered while further investigation is under way.
Meanwhile, the Rangers claimed to have apprehended six suspects during ongoing targeted raids and operations in different parts of the city. According to Rangers spokesperson, two suspects, Ali alias Asif, belonging to a Lyari gang and Nadeem alias Saleem of Uzair Baloch group, were arrested during a raid in Lyari area. They had been declared wanted for their involvement in various cases of crime, including drug peddling. A suspect, Umair, was arrested during a raid in Saudabad area for involvement in difference cases of targeted killings and crimes.

In another raid also conducted in Saudabad area, the Rangers arrested an illegal immigrant, Muhammad alias Bablu, who belonged to Bangladesh. Another suspect, identified as Dhani Buksh, was arrested during a raid in Manghopir area. The Rangers claim to have recovered arms, ammunition and narcotics from the suspects' possession. The suspects were later handed over to the police.
