DDWP approves road project worth Rs182m

Road will be widened to 24 feet to accommodate traffic load

SAHIWAL: The Divisional Development Working Party (DDWP) of Sahiwal Division has approved a road project linking Chichawatni Bypass to Okanwala Bangla worth Rs182.7 million.

Under the scheme, 18.11 kilometre existing road will be widened to 24 feet to accommodate traffic load which connects dozens of villages to Chichawatni city. The scheme was approved in a meeting chaired by Sahiwal Commissioner Babar Hayat Tarar at commissioner’s office on Friday. The meeting was also attended by its members and other officials.

On the occasion, the commissioner directed highway department to ensure quality of work and timely completion of the project so that thousands of commuters could get benefit from the scheme.

During the meeting, Babar also showed his dismay over delay of public health schemes in Sahiwal Division and complaints of low quality work. He directed the superintendent engineer to expedite work on all schemes with special emphasis on constant monitoring of the projects.
