The right to wear a burqa (III)

Letter April 16, 2011
Taliban impose restrictions on female attire, so how are the French any different from the former?

LAHORE: I agree with the writer because the issue is not whether we wear a burqa or not (I don’t and I believe the writer doesn’t as well) but rather about the freedom to practice one’s religion. The fact of the matter is that the Taliban impose restrictions on female attire, so how are the French any different from  the former? Both are trying, in their own way, to impose their beliefs, their worldviews and their ideologies, so to speak, on others. I would say France is no different now than, say, Saudi Arabia
