The Powerpuff Girls are getting a fourth member and fans are having a breakdown

The Powerpuff Girls comprises three sisters, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, since Professor Utonium accidentally created three–perfect little girls/superheroes in a lab thanks to a combination of sugar, spice, everything nice, and just a touch of Chemical X.



Well the Professor and his super-daughters as well as the City of Townsville at large are all in for a pretty big surprise, because there is about to be (or always was, the lore is unclear) a fourth Powerpuff Girl. Cartoon Network just released this image to tease the big reveal:

It’s not clear who this fourth member is, how her origin story relates to that of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, or if she’ll even be sticking around the City of Townsville long to help fight evil.

But hey, in the tweet posted by Cartoon Network, there seems to be a huge clue to what we should expect. There are four hearts in the captiom. Red, Blue and Green for Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, but did you notice a purple heart? Does that remind you of a very famous character once appeared on the cartoon?

Some fans have have already flagged up on Twitter that a fourth member is nothing new, as the girls already created a sister in an old school episode.

Will a fourth Powerpuff Girl add or subtract to the group dynamic? Do we even need a fourth Powerpuff Girl? Is the Professor her dad/creator as well? Only time will tell!
