Govt taking steps to promote industries in Balochistan
Mini Industrial Estates to be set up in Khuzdar, Turbat, Muslim Bagh to overcome unemployment
ISLAMABAD:
The Balochistan government is taking steps for promotion of industries and commerce sector in the province.
According to Radio Pakistan, Special Economic Zones will be established in district Khuzdar, and Bostan area of Qila Saifullah district, which would provide basis for more industries in the province.
Meanwhile, over 40 vocational training centres have been made operational in the province, which would train youth in different skills. Mini Industrial Estates would also be set up in Khuzdar, Turbat, and Muslim Bagh to overcome unemployment.
Balochistan signals readiness for settlement of Reko Diq row
In total US$7 billion out of the funds by the Chinese government is being invested in the province, few of the projects that the Planning Commission has penned out under CPEC include: New Gwadar International Airport, Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab section of Gwadar-Rathodero Road (892 km), Widening and improvement of N-85 Hoshab-Nag-Basima, Surab Road (459 km), Water treatment, supply and distribution, Establishment of CPEC Support Unit for projects and activities in Gwadar Port Authority, Feasibility study for the construction of break waters, Infrastructure development for EPZA and GIEDA, Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute at Gwadar, Up-gradation of existing 50-bed hospital to 300 beds in Gwadar, Connecting Gwadar with Karachi by rail and a 300MW coal-fired power plant at Gwadar.
