Badminton: Elections held to resolve federation dispute

LAHORE:

On the directives of the court, candidates took part in an election process for the dissolved badminton federation of Pakistan with the results to be made public on April 18.

The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Arbitration Committee supervised the elections and will submit the result to the court that will give a decision regarding the formation of a new body to take over the federation.

According to an initial report, Mian Iftikhar and Amir Khan Rokhri are the leading candidates to win the election.

The elections were held to resolve the dispute between two rival groups who wanted to run the Pakistan Badminton Federation (PFB) involving Rokhri and Nazar Gondal. With the dispute lingering on, the International Badminton Federation suspended the Pakistan body on March 4 before the POA suggested resolving the issue through elections.
