He was speaking in the project’s weekly progress review meeting held on Wednesday. Development work at both power substations on GT and Multan roads will be completed by the end of September, he said.
Hassan added that in order to speed up construction and installation of u-tub girders, engineering contractor of OLMT package-II (from Chaburji to Ali Town) has carried out a successful experiment of steam curing of concrete girders. This technology will be used for the first time in Pakistan in metro bus construction for which the company has imported the latest machinery to construct and deploy nine u-tub girders daily, he added.
The participants of the meeting were informed that six rail tracks had been laid in the depot at Dera Gujran to park train wagons which are expected to reach Lahore by mid-September.
Talking about the project’s progress, it was indicated that 74% of overall development works have been completed. Progress on metro train’s package-I (from Dera Gujran to Chaburji) is at 86%, while 53.3% civil works of package-II have been completed.
