LAHORE: Minister of State for Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali has directed heads of power companies to complete ongoing projects well before time.

He gave the directive while chairing a meeting on power system constraints held at the Wapda House on Monday.

90% of power system constraints overcome: Ali

National Transmission and Despatch Company managing director, CEOs of all power distribution companies and other senior officials of the Power Division attended the meeting.

The state minister insisted that the government had made much progress in power generation due to concerted and coordinated efforts since it was committed to eliminating load-shedding from the country.

He said the transmission system of NTDC and distribution companies was facing constraints, but the government had carried out and completed various projects over the past three years.

Ali said the Ministry of Power had already identified system constraints and communicated to all the departments to initiate upgrading of the transmission system on a war footing.

No load-shedding across country during PSL final, claims Abid Sher Ali

He constituted a monitoring committee comprising officials of the Power Division, Pakistan Electric Power Company, NTDC and distribution companies. The committee will monitor the work progress and ensure completion of under-construction projects within given deadlines. Monitoring teams will submit progress reports every week and all those officials, who fail to complete projects within the given time frame, will be penalised.
