Students given shields for winning competition at Express Career and Education Expo 2017

KARACHI: Any form of art is a form of power – it has impact, it can affect change, it can not only move us but it makes us move.

These words of Ossie Davis were quoted by Afshan Farooq, a student of the Greenwich University, during an appreciation ceremony of Express Career and Education Expo 2017 held at Greenwich University on Saturday evening.

Vice-chancellor (VC) Seema Mughal, the management and faculty of the varsity praised the students who performed during the two-day Express's educational event. The students were also awarded certificates and shields for winning dance and fashion show competition at the expo.

"All the students who participated in the healthy activity would be getting financial help," said the VC, while announcing 25% waive in the tuition fee of two students who played a major role in winning the competition.

Mughal added that Greenwich University encourages its students to participate in extracurricular activities. She expressed her hope that the students will outperform in every sphere of academics, making the varsity proud.

The moment you're out of fear and the moment you think you can do it, you'll do it, the VC advised the students. The element of fear has to be defeated in order to achieve something extraordinary, she added.

Chief guest at the ceremony, Express Media Group Marketing Executive Director Azfar Nizami, recalled his university life while addressing the event. He commended the services offered by Greenwich University in academics and extra-curricular activities. The Express Media Group wants to provide more avenues to the youth to showcase their skills by expanding its expo events locally and internationally, he said.
