The World Boxing Council Silver Flyweight champion predicts that Mayweather will have no difficulty in tackling McGregor as boxing is much more technical and restraining than Mixed Martial Arts.
Why paying for Mayweather-McGregor fight isn’t worth it
“We need to understand that boxing is a bigger sport than MMA, and this fight really doesn’t feel that exciting,” Waseem told The Express Tribune from Panama where he is training for his own bout in Columbia next month.
“It is all about money,” he continued. “There is no title involved. Mayweather retired from boxing two years ago, so it is about money. And for McGregor, it is about reaching to more people with his stunts like screaming at Mayweather, but it would be very difficult for him to pin Mayweather down. It is not MMA, McGregor, 29, is most likely to get disqualified, because restraining oneself from not hitting the other requires a very strong head.”

Waseem believes in the cross-style boxing fight Mayweather’s expertise would help him win easily.
“MMA is easy because they can use elbows, kicks and everything, but boxing isn’t like that. McGregor would realize that he only has his fists to use and Mayweather is a champion in that. He is an undefeated fighter in six weight categories throughout his career. It’s Mayweather’s turf.”
Waseem added that most boxers would in fact end up winning against MMA fighter in boxing.
“Even I can defeat Mcgregor in boxing,” said Waseem. “Of course if I fight MMA style against him, I will lose, but boxers are more technical. Boxing is simple, a more precise sport. It’s got a huge history. With this fight Mcgregor has become a more famous name, otherwise only MMA fans knew him.”
Waseem's fight against opponents, his own continues
The Telegraph has reported that the controversial fight on Saturday is holding good amount of money for both fighters, as Nevada State Athletic Commission confirmed on Friday night that the minimum each fighter will earn is $100million for Mayweather and $30million for McGregor.
Meanwhile, Waseem believes there is a bigger and better fight on September 16 that everyone should look out for.
"I feel Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez title bout in the middleweight category is a bigger event that Mayweather-McGregor," said Waseem.
