Judge handed down death sentence to the accused along with a fine of Rs200,000 as compensation money

SARGODHA: A court awarded a death sentence to an accused for his involvement in a murder case in Sargodha on Thursday.

The judgment was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Israr Zada. The prosecution told the court that accused Omar Farooq, resident of Chak No 117/SB, had killed a man Nawaz Cheema, over a business deal on August 14, 2007.

Death penalty in murder cases

The local police registered a case against the accused and presented the challan before the court. After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down death sentence to the accused along with a fine of Rs200,000 as compensation money.

Earlier in 2017, a court awarded death sentence to a murder convict and life term to two others for their involvement in a murder case in Sargodha. The judgment was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Saadat Hussain Malik. Convict Muhammad Ramzan and his companions had gunned down Mehr over a property dispute in 2015.

The judge handed down death sentence to Ramzan and awarded life term to two of his accomplices.
