PML-N has set precedent of ‘corruption free government’: PM Abbasi

PM says Nawaz Sharif put country back on track, enabling it to return to path of progress, prosperity

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, on Tuesday, said the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has set a precedent of “corruption free government” as not a single such case surfaced during the past four years.

“It is indeed a matter of great pride for all of us that not a single case of corruption in developmental projects has surfaced during the past four years,” the prime minister told PML-N senators who had called on the former at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad.

Abbasi says govt not on warpath with institutions

During the meeting, the prime minister went on to claim that under the leadership of deposed premier Nawaz Sharif the ruling party put the country back on track, enabling it to return to the path of progress and prosperity. “The performance of the present government is far better than the past governments,” a statement quoted Abbasi as saying.

Discussing various policy initiatives relating to the security, economy and development of the country, the prime minister said the government focused on much needed developmental projects that catered to the needs of the people and ensured their timely completion.

“The policies have also projects our positive image at the international level and restored the confidence of the international community and especially foreign investors in Pakistan,” he said. “This has been acknowledged by the leading international organisations.”

Abbasi seeks plan to extend PM’s health programme

The delegation of senators who called on the premier included Raja Muhammad Zafar ul Haq, Leader of the House, Mushahid Ullah Khan, Minister for Climate Change, Lt-Gen (retd) Salahuddin Tirmizi, Minister for Narcotics Control, Kamran Michael, Minister for Statistics, Syed Asif Saeed Kirmani, SAPM, Pervaiz Rasheed and others.

CJCSC calls on PM

Earlier, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat also called on the prime minister at his office and discussed matters pertaining to the armed forces with the premier.
